Chief Mingee has been Fire Chief of the City of Port
Townsend and East Jefferson Fire Rescue since 2004.
As a third generation fireman he started his career in 1976
as a Firefighter / Paramedic for his hometown of Hesperia, California. After 5
years with the Hesperia Fire District and another 5 years with the City of
Rialto California, he was promoted to the position of Fire Captain in the
Southern California City of Victorville.
During his 10 years as a Fire Captain Mike obtained
certification as both a Fire Officer and Chief Fire Officer with the State of
California. In 1981 Michael received an Associate of Science degree in Fire
Technology and in 1995 a Bachelors of Arts degree in Public Administration.
From 1997 until 2004 Chief Mingee served with the City of
Cathedral City Fire Department as their Fire Marshal and Division Chief of
Operations. In 2003 Chief Mingee was awarded a Chief Fire Officer Designation
from the Committee of Fire Accreditation International.
Chief Mingee is a member of the Washington State Fire Chiefs
Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs, National Fire Prevention
Association, Jefferson County Incident Management Team, the Jefferson County
Fire Chiefıs Association and the Jefferson County EMS / Trauma Council. Chief
Mingee is a faculty member of the Ben Clark Public Safety Training center in
Riverside California and Olympic College in Bremerton Washington.
