2006 Chief’s Message
This annual report gives me an opportunity to thank all of the members for their patience and dedication to community service over the past year. Their patience is appreciated because I know very well that this has been a whirlwind year with sweeping change and new ideas brought to the Department.
All have contributed to this change and made our steps so far a success. Throughout the District we have reduced response times from an average of 7.1 minutes in 2004 to 6 minutes over the last twelve months. Our consolidations have placed more Paramedics in the former District 1 and 6.
We have staffed a second engine company immediately enroute to alarms in the City and County. The Department has completed construction of a new Fire Station in the City and a completely remodeled a staffed station in the center of the District on Jacob Miller Road.
The new Emergency Operations Center and a refurbished Alternate Public Safety Answering Point are significant components of the construction completed this year.
The Department was fortunate enough to hire Assistant Chief Ted Krysinski, Firefighter / EMT-IV, Me’l Christensen, Firefighter / EMT Intermediate Reece Chambers, Firefighter / EMT Brian Stokke, Firefighter / EMT Mike Kithcart and Firefighter / Paramedic Sam Neville which brought our staffing to minimum of six career per day. The Department also added to the ranks 11 new Volunteer Firefighters and EMTs. We all should be proud that our organization established the Region’s first Bariatric Transport Unit in 2005.
